the 1st ? in the last picture in Bill Marshall's collection is, I believe, me.I was in the unit at that time,I had blonde hair, left handed (feeding my face)and I still can sit cross legged. For reference, I am the pilot who had a round go through my flight helmet during the first lift of a C.A.where we were inserting the 173rd Inf. Brigade into war zone C or D. I don't remember which was which. I remember the zone was just north of Bien Hoa.Anyway, hello to all who remember me from those adventurious times.

Listen up people...I have around 45 Rattler/Firebird Challenge coins left http://lznam.com/rattler.html...first come, first served. Any remaining coins will be sold at the DC reunion. When they are gone that will be it. $1.50 of the proceeds for each coin sold is donated to the organization. Also, I am donating a Franklin Mint Vietnam Veteran's Commemorative Knife (which can be viewed at http://lznam.com/shopping/details.php?productid=VCK...it will be raffled off at the DC reunion..."ALL" proceeds going to the organization. So, hurry if you want one of these coins, they've been up for sale now through my website and in the newsletters for almost two years. Many of you have purchased these Challenge Coins and the organization and I thank you.

I was looking for anyone who could help me find information on my Uncle who died recently. His name was 1LT David Paul Henes of Dexter, Michigan. I believe that he was briefly with the 71st Assault Helicopter Company in the summer of 1971 before he was transferred to the 48th Assault Helicopter Company in September 1971. I believe that he shipped out in May of 1971 to the 71st but I would like to confirm this. He has some pictures and patches from the 71st Firebirds and Rattlesnakes but no dates on them. If anyone could let me know about this it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

It is good to find this page! I live daily with the memories of those of our comrads who gave the ultimate sacrifice over there. Mostly I think of Randy Howell who was our platoon Sgt and Everett Runnels who was a Crew Chief. They were killed on a flight back to BH after dropping off their hold baggage at camp alpha. The tail boom separated from the ship and all lost their lives. I cant remember the names of the pilots but they all had only about 2 weeks left in country. My job was 45j20 aircraft armament and Donald Farnham was our platoon leader when I was there. Anyone wishing to correspond can e-mail me or drop me a line at PO Box 5292 Cortland, New York 13045
