Served with the 351st Avn Co (Assualt Helicopter) from 1971 to 1973. Was part of the unit when it was redesignated 71st Avn Co (Assault Helicopter) and was part of the team that designed the new unit patch: blue background with the Cobra and the US and German flags on top, with ASSAULT HELICOPTER on the bottom. Had a great time!

I was a SSgt with the HMM-364 Marines at Marble Mountain in May of 71. The unit was standing down and a Firebird helicopter flew in to our area. They bought a 24,500 btu air conditioner, drank all our liquor, screwed our hooch maid, and flew off into the setting sun...unbelievable.

As a drummer for an Australian band, 'Xanadu' I did quite a few shows for 'Rattlers' in VN, 1971. (even have a shoulder patch given to me by one of the guys.) I am trying to find a Spec 4 Tom Cooper (not a Rattler) based at Chu-Lai in '71. I hope someone can help? Tom took a great selection of on-stage shots of the band in Chu-Lai, many of which have been used in a book titled, 'My Rock 'N Roll War'.I would like to find Tom (have been looking for over 30 years now). If you can help, my eternal thanks.Don MorrissonDrummer, Australian band 'Xanadu', VN 1971.
