Ron, I was in the 196th Light Inf. and in Que Son Valley, Vietnam during the month of Jan. '68. We lost half our company the first four days of Jan. I saw a chopper go down the night of the 6th or 7th. Were you in that chopper? A few days later we escorted a crew member of that chopper around looking for the rest his crew mates. Received a phone call from Jim Baragona Wednesday night from Slidell, LA. He is ok, but lost everything. Rode out the storm, but will never do it again. Camping in backyard with the two dogs for now. National Guard comes by every day with food, ice & water. Needs nothing now. House is 90% destroyed according to the estimator, but is insured against this disaster. Gentlemen....Today I have talked to the wife of Shelton Foles. Shelton lives in Richton, MS, about 75 miles from the coast. They have roof damage to the house and barn but otherwise came out ok, all things considered. They were without electricity for 6 days and lost most of their trees. They do not need anything...... We still have no word on Jim Baragona, Rick Webster and Ernie Matthews, all of whom were in the path of the storm and much closer to the coast...Ron Seabolt

Larry Smith (Smitty)(EM 66-68)contacted me tonight with an update on his situation in Laurel, MS. He has an oak tree through his roof on the back side. They have that part of the house shut off and are staying in the rest. Went without electricity for 9 days. They only have cell phone service as of today. He needs nothing. Everything is fully covered by his insurance. He said relief workers are being wonderful to them. A family of 4 right up the road died in the storm. Everyone has extensive roof damage in his area with thousands of trees down everywhere.
