Need some help guyz. Some time in the mid to later part of 1970 some of us got Silver Stars. I didn't get one and I was involved in the operation(s) in question. Our leader at the time was Maj. Davis. For some reason my name was not included in those orders. I was wondering if any one of you, who got a Silver Star at that time, might send me an e mail and I will answer with my contact info. I would like a copy of those orders so I can rectify my situation. Thanks in advance.

Helicopter "nicknames" of the VN War is the subject of a book I'm presently researching. During this process I've documented five personalized names that were displayed on various 71st AHC in-country aircraft: ANKA, AQUARIUS, CHICKEN HEART, SNAKE DOCTOR, THE MAGGOT WAGON I'm wondering if this number accurately reflects the total output produced by crews of the 71st AHC who might have painted something special on the nose, door or fuselage of their Vietnam based copters. There has never been a comprehensive cataloging of personalized "names" before. This attempt will be the first, and hopefully, the most complete tabulation of Army copter "nose-art nicknames" ever. Therefore, it is important that the published database (late 2008) include all known 71st AHC copter names as possible. I ask that you notify your members about this project and that you forward their input to me. Scanned photos are welcomed, but not necessary. Sincerely, John Brennan, active member in the VHCMA & 114 Avn Co Assn; former SP5, 114 AHC, Vinh Long AAF, 1970-71, Mekong Delta

Anyway, to get back to my (story) question. I didn't have a regular crew that day. My copilot, who was a Cpt. at the time had a Special Forces patch. The crew members weren't from our unit either. So in summary, I guess it comes down like this. 1.Other than the 71st crew. 2. The aircraft I was given (that I turned down had an engine failure) Anyone know how I can get a hold of Myron Davis?

Does anyone remember or know how I can find out who flew with me on my last day flying in country. The date was Date: 11 Nov 1970. I was given 67-17546 that morning but I turned it down(red X-ed it because the guide veins had a lot of metal flakes on it. Then they gave it to AC W2 GARRETT KS Accident Summary: Aircraft, while flying straight and level at 50 feet and 110 knots airspeed, The engine failed. the AC completed a successful autorotation to a rice paddy with incident damage. The acft was recovered and looked back to home station.

This is John Brennan, active member of the VHCMA and the 114th Avn Co Assn. I'm collecting VN era "nicknames" (i.e. FLYING COFFIN,IRON BUTTERFLY) that in-country Army copter crews painted on their aircraft. Future book by aviation publisher is in the making. Have cataloged over 1,200 names to date. I expect that number to exceed 2,000 when complete. Please pass the word. Would very much like to include as many personalized copter names as possible. Nose art & nickname photos will constitute majority of book. Database of all known Army helicopter "nicknames" will be included. Have earmarked the Army Aviation Museum & Texas Tech as post-production recipient for "nickname" database research. From out of the shadows and into the light it's our turn to be recognized. Send "nickname" info and/or scanned pics to johnmailman@yahoo.com Regards, John Brennan, former SP5, 114 AHC, Flight Operations Coordinator, Vinh Long AAF, Mekong Delta, 1970-71
