Comments:My son John R.Rankin was on the flight with W.D. Romero when their aircraft was shot down. John became a casualty just after the craft crashed landed. I have been told that David Romero became a casualty later, on the same mission.

I would like to get in touch with Mr. Romero's family if that can be arranged, providing they are willing.

I have had the pleasure of meeting WO Ed Gwynn, the pilot of the Huey when they were shot down. We talked about the fatal mission and it was gratifying to me to know what actually happened on that flight which was completely different from the story the army told me.

I have attended the last two reunions and have met about twenty other men that had served with my son. I cannot tell you how much meeting these men has ment to me.

I feel that if David Romero's family could be located, they may wish to attend the next reunion and meet his buddies as I have. John's mother, Patricia, attended the last reunion in St. Louis with one of her sons from her new husband.

They, my wife Nell and I spent some rememborable time together.

We all are looking forward to the reunion in D.C. next year.
