Come on guys, Some of you knew Mr. James. Please tells us about him.
Paul and I roomed together at Hunter AAF. Anyone who knew Paul liked and respected him. He was truly a “stand-up” guy. I often think of him with fond memories. Paul James and Steve Lane were killed in a wreck while inserting ARVN troops on a mountain top. I recovered the bodies. Crewman Buford Sumner later died from injuries sustained in this wreck. Before his death, Sumner personally gave me details of the incident. I can provide additional info if interested.
Paul and I met in 1967 while attending Miami-Dade Jr College. He picked me up while I was hitchhiking home from school. He lived very close to me but we had never met before that day. We became instant friends. I was home on leave from the Army in 1970 when I learned he had been KIA. I was devastated and still miss him to this day. I went to try and visit his parents later but they had already moved and I was never able to find them or his fiancee again.
