All, this is the prayer I will pray this morning, Memorial Day, at our Post Remembrance celebration at Fort Sill. I pray it for all our lost brothers! Blessings this day, Whiz Sovereign God, Author of Liberty and Justice, Join with us today as we pause in the midst of celebration, recreation, and rest to remember the selfless service and sacrifice of our fallen Heroes. From the onset of our great Nation, brave men and women gave the definitive gift of life thru death. Not because they choose to die but because they knew what it meant to live free and choose to give that gift as they fought. Thank You for such people as these, people that follow this ideal even now! Oh Lord, Your Word tells us; that to sacrifice is to gain, to give is to receive and that service to others is the only way of life. May these values be our daily resolve and our pledge as we honor every fallen Soldier, citizen and Patriot on this Memorial Day. Bless those who fight today in battles that rage with the thunder of guns and bombs, and those who fight the ever present yet hidden foes of hate, injustice and intolerance. Keep us strong and ever vigilant as we do the work You gave us to do as a country; to ensure that every person has value and dignity, that each one is truly equal in liberty and happiness and that we are the “Land of the free because of the Brave.” These things I pray in the Name of my Savior, Amen.

As we face another Memorial Day tomorrow I would hope each of you that served in the Rattlers and Firebirds will remember our lost fellow soldiers. Tomorrow is my brother Richard's birthday and we'll be taking a bouquet of red, white and blue carnations to the cemetery. We'll also be delivering birthday greetings from his Rattler-Firebird Brothers. Some of you knew Richard and I will be forever grateful to you for sharing your memories of him and helping me write "He's My Brother".
