Steve, there is a chance your discharge paper has a typographical error. The only medal I have seen with a '60- banner is the Vietnam Campaign Medal with its green and white ribbon. Everyone who served in our armed forces in Vietnam was awarded the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Palm as an individual award. This was done near the end of hostilities as a token of thanks by the South Vietnamese government. The Gallantry Cross with Palm, Silver Star and Gold star were awarded for individual acts of heroism throughout hostilities to members of our armed forces, mostly to Army personnel. I do not think there is a device to show the second award. The Gallantry Cross with Palm was also awarded to units(worn above the right breast pocket). It was awarded to A/501st, 71st. 151st and any other unit attached to us.

Steve, your discharge paper may show VCM w/clasp. It is the green with white stripes ribbon Vietnamese Campaign Medal awarded by the South Vietnamese government for six months of service in country. The silver clasp with 1960- was designed to have an end date added but with the fall of South Vietnam, the date was not officially added.
