Our home page describes how well we were respected by our fellow Americans as well as members of allied forces and were feared by our enemies. From the time you walked in to the orderly room, you were a Rattler/Firebird. Hold your head high and respect others - not too hard to do. We have a great organization. Our members range from entry enlisted ranks to flag rank, years of service from two years to thirty years. And we all enjoy each others company. However, there is no criteria for Associate Membership. I have met daughters, sisters and sons of our men - 99.9% of them are terrific people. Recently, four of us helped a widow learn what her husband did as a Rattler. Respectful, proud, grateful, polite. However, we always have the chance of one idiot or moron slipping in. Sooner or later we are going to find an ungrateful, disrespectful jerk in our midst. I respectfully suggest we put in place a policy to review applicants and initiate a policy to not accept continued membership of associates found unfit. I recently observed ungrateful and rude actions by an associate member. If that member appears at a Reunion, my wife and I will ask a local court for a temporary protective order to have that member banned from the property.
