B.G. (Jug) Burkett

Our guest speaker for the Saturday night banquet is B.G. (Jug) Burkett.

B.G. Burkett, a Vietnam veteran, served as a 1st LT with the 199th Lt. Infantry. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Vietnamese Honor Medal and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He is the co-author of Stolen Valor, which won the coveted Colby Award for outstanding military book. He was presented the Army’s highest award given to a civilian, the Distinguished Civilian Service Medal, by former President George H.W. Bush. In 2005, Mr. Burkett was inducted into the U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Fame. Also in 2005, Mr. Burkett and Congressman Salazar D-CO, introduced the Stolen Valor Act on Capitol Hill.

Jug was recently made an honorary lifetime member of The Special Operations Association. In 2012, he was made the first honorary inductee of the Legion of Valor which is an organization of Medal of Honor recipients.
