Comments:I don't remember Stephen as I was 5 when he died. He was well thought of in the town and the local sportsmans club named the rifle range after him as he was always there.

Comments:I first met Stephen in Basic Training at Fort Polk, La. He was made Trainee platoon Sgt. and I was one of the squad leaders in A-1-1. We went through flight training together at Fort Wolters, Tx. where he met his future wife Judy Rushing. We took two weeks off between flight schools and I served as Best Man at their wedding.
I was greatly saddened by his death and was in contact with his wife and parents for a short time. They sent me a photo of the dedication of the rifle range named after him (which I still have).
Stephen was a great person and a good friend. He is missed.
