Comment: John Howell was my dad and no son could have been luckier. He was proud of his service to our country and in Vietnam. He was proud of me when I made 1SG too, he told me "It's the hardest job you'll ever love". As usual he was right. Dad really enjoyed the reunions with this association. I went to one with him in Orlando and met many fine people like Ned Fleke. At these reunions he could talk about things that he could not talk about with anyone else. Talking helped. I miss him every day! I would like to leave you with the rules that he raised me by, and I taught to my son.
1. Tell the truth 2. Do your best no matter how trivial the task. 3. Choose the difficult right over the easy wrong 4. Look out for the group before yourself 5.Don't whine or make excuses 6. Judge others by their actions.
